Youth Summer Sports Camps by Skyhawks

The Hopkins Pavilion is home to several youth summer sports camps from the nationwide organization Skyhawks.

Mini Hawk: T-Ball, Basketball & Soccer (Ages 4-6)

Boy throws ball into basketball hoopsThis multi-sport program was developed to give 4 to 6 year-olds a positive first step into athletics. T-ball, basketball, and soccer are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement & fun. Through games and activities campers will explore balance, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace.

All participants receive a t-shirt and a merit award.

The participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 8:1.

Participants should bring appropriate clothing, two snacks, a water bottle, running shoes, and sunscreen.

Multi Sport: Baseball, Basketball & Soccer (Ages 6-12)

Boy fields baseballOur multi-sport camp is designed to introduce young athletes to a variety of different sports in one setting. For this program we combine baseball, basketball and soccer into one fun-filled week. Athletes will learn the rules and essentials of each sport through skill-based games and scrimmages. By the end of the week, your child will walk away with knowledge of 3 new sports along with vital life lessons such as respect, teamwork, and self-discipline.

All participants receive a t-shirt and merit award.

The participant-to-coach ratio is approximately 10:1.

Participants should bring a lunch and snack (for programs over four hours) or two snacks (for programs four hours or less), sunscreen, appropriate clothing, baseball glove and water bottle.

Beginning Golf (Ages 5-8)

Campers will learn the fundamentals of swinging, putting, and body positioning. Skyhawks has adopted the SNAG (Starting New at Golf) system to its curriculum. SNAG is specifically designed for the entry-level player. SNAG simplifies instruction so that young players can make an easy & effective transition onto the golf course. All equipment provided.

All participants receive a t-shirt and a merit award.

Track and Field (Ages 7–12)

Skyhawks Track & Field was developed to introduce young athletes to this sport rich in tradition and history. These programs combine technical development and fundamental techniques with safety and a major focus on fun! Using special equipment, our exercises, and drills will prepare athletes for a future in cross-country, track and field events, distance running, while inspiring a love for running and being active. The fundamentals of body positioning, stride, proper stretching, and cool-down techniques are all covered in this unique program. Participants will put it all together for one fun-filled day at the end of the week at the Skyhawks track meet!

All participants receive a t-shirt and a merit award.

Game Camp: Capture the Flag, Dodgeball & Kickball (Ages 7-12)

You know it from playgrounds, backyards and family get-togethers.  We take all the traditional aspects of these games and put a Skyhawks spin on it. Your young athlete will learn strategy in addition to the rules of the games while we incorporate sportsmanship and teamwork into this action packed camp. At the end of week participants will play for the Skyhawks Flag. Bring your friends or come and make new ones in this unique and fast-paced program.

Tiny Hawk Soccer (Ages 3.5–4)

The essentials of soccer are introduced in a fun, safe environment with lots of encouragement. Campers must be between 42 and 48 months of age and toilet trained in order to participate. Children will learn balance, body movement, hand/eye coordination, and skill development through a series of sport-specific games.

All participants receive a merit award.

Flag Football (Ages 5–12)

Skyhawks flag football is the perfect introduction to America’s Game or for those who want to brush up on their skills preparing for league play. Through our ‘skill of the day’ campers will learn skills on both sides of the ball including the core components of passing, catching, and de-flagging or defensive positioning – all presented in a fun & positive environment. The week ends with the Skyhawks Sports Bowl, giving participants a chance to showcase their skills on the gridiron!

Skyhawks Tennis with Quickstart (Ages 4–7)

Skyhawks Tennis with Quickstart is a new format to help kids ten and under learn and play tennis. To create a successful learning environment, we have made modifications to our traditional tennis program. The court is smaller and has shorter nets, the racquets are smaller, and the balls are foam. In addition to developing a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis such an exciting game to play. Due to limited court space, these programs fill up quickly. Tennis racquet will be provided.

All participants receive a t-shirt and merit award.

Skyhawks Sports tennis focuses on skill refinement as well as practice and match play to develop consistent, well-rounded tennis players. Players learn proper grips, footwork, strokes, volleys and serves during a series of drills designed to teach skills in a fun and dynamic way. In addition to developing a love for tennis, athletes will learn the rules and etiquette that make tennis an exciting game to play. Due to limited court space, these programs fill quickly.

All participants receive a t-shirt and merit award.

Participants should bring two snacks, sunscreen, appropriate clothing, water bottle, and tennis racquet.
